What NURS 8710 is really about
A review at this level is judged first on whether somebody else could rebuild it. That makes the search itself part of the writing: which databases were queried, which terms in which combinations, what got limited by date, language or design, which rules admitted and excluded a record, and how many survived each stage. Set down that way, a review is a method. Set down as a sentence saying relevant articles were located, it is a claim nobody can check. What if my search turns up almost nothing?
Treat that as a result about the search before treating it as a gap. Terms too narrow, a single database, a date limit set for convenience and a filter left switched on will each empty a set. Widen deliberately, try adjacent vocabulary, and mine the reference lists of anything close. If evidence stays thin after an honest attempt, report that and describe what exists in nearby populations.
What if the literature already answers my question?
Then say so, and let the project move. Finding your question settled is a legitimate result at this stage, and reporting it honestly reads far better than a manufactured gap somebody will notice later anyway. Usually the settled portion is narrower than it first looks, and what remains open is whether the finding holds in your population, your setting or under your constraints.
